About Us

Marci Burgess is a Reiki Master/Teacher in Animal Reiki as well as in the Holy Fire Usui and Karuna Reiki® traditions. She is a certified hatha~vinyasa and Sivananda yoga teacher, and most recently became a Laughter Yoga leader as well. Marci is certified in First Aid/CPR and Pet First Aid.

Marci enjoys public speaking ~ especially about Reiki. In May 2015 she presented on Animal Reiki at the Mid-Atlantic Reiki Conference ~ Toronto, and has given talks and workshops at equine and pet trade shows.

She received both her Usui and Karuna Reiki® Master attunements in the centre circle of Stonehenge, and will be forever grateful for those profoundly powerful experiences of healing and transformation. She received her Animal Reiki Master training and attunements at Remus Memorial Horse Sanctuary in the UK ~ also a deeply moving and transformational experience. Most recently, she was ignited to Holy Fire Karuna Reiki® amidst the energy vortexes of Sedona, Arizona, which is adding even brighter light to her Reiki practice and teaching.

It was her deep love of animals that originally led her to become a Reiki practitioner ~ see The Blog for the full story ~ and this love is her main motivation in establishing her Reiki practice.

Marci's favourite clients are our animal friends, because they are so sensitive to positive energy, and so open and receptive to it. Sometimes they don't even wait for it to be offered, but sense it and start the Reiki energy flow themselves! So far she has worked mainly with parrots and cats ~ including a few cases of palliative care ~ but has also given Reiki to dogs, horses, donkeys, many types of birds, farm animals, wild things, and zoo animals from lizards and snakes to wolves and bears. She also completed an Equine Reiki training, and is grateful to the horses, ponies and donkeys who so generously assisted.

Marci is a member of the Shelter Animal Reiki Association (SARA), and is dedicated to providing and promoting volunteer Reiki treatments for animals living in sanctuaries, shelters and foster homes, as well as training for staff and volunteers.

She loves teaching, and is pleased to be able to offer private and group classes leading to certification in Level I, Level II and Advanced/Master Reiki in Animal Reiki, Holy Fire Usui Reiki, and for those who are already Reiki Masters, Holy Fire Karuna Reiki® as well. It is an honour to be able to guide and initiate others onto the healing path of Reiki.

Marci took Reiki I and II from Michelle Atzenwiler in Toronto, and her Usui Reiki Master and Karuna Reiki® training from William Lee Rand. He says that being a Reiki Master doesn't mean that we have mastered Reiki, but that we have allowed Reiki to master us. Marci takes this straight to heart, and tries to surrender her ego, become a channel for the highest good, and be guided by Reiki in her treatments, her classes and her life.

She took her Equine and Animal Reiki Master training from Kathleen Prasad, whose gentle approach and compassionate insights opened up new pathways to providing healing Reiki energy to the animals, and to herself.

Carolyn Musial introduced her to the new Holy Fire® Reiki energy, and Laurelle Shanti Gaia and Michael Baird provided her ignition as a Holy Fire Karuna Reiki® Master, as well as training and certification in Reiki Crystal Healing and Reikisonics sound healing.

At home, Marci enjoys the delightful company of four cats and two budgies, all of whom are very willing recipients of as much Reiki as possible.
