We are stardust. This beautiful planet Earth and every living being she supports are made up of different combinations and concentrations of the elements that arrived here billions of years ago from exploding stars. And all matter, whether solid, liquid or gas, animal, vegetable or mineral, is merely energy vibrating at varying frequencies, allowing it to take different forms.


Physicists have divided the properties of matter into the 118 elements (and counting) of the Periodic Table. The ancients in many wisdom traditions, and many modern healers as well, think in terms of 5 elements: earth, water, air, fire and ether or spirit. Both are very useful ways of understanding the interactions of matter and energy, and how they can be used for healing.

Crystals and stones can be used to enhance healing because they vibrate at frequencies that correspond to the same elements in our bodies and energetic fields. A simple example is using an iron-rich mineral like hematite to help someone dealing with anemia or other blood-related issues. The iron in the stone vibrates in harmony with the iron in the blood and helps bring it into balance. Hematite also resonates with the element of earth, making it an ideal stone for grounding and centering.

Lithium-rich lepidolite can be used effectively to calm someone dealing with stress or anxiety, and being related to the water element, can help them relax and "go with the flow". Although not necessary, the more the person is conscious of the connection with the stone, the more effective the treatment will be.


Clear quartz crystals have long been scientifically proven to be extremely effective conductors of energy, and form an indispensable component of computer chips. They can also be used to amplify the energy of other specific crystals and stones being used for healing, thus magnifying their effectiveness.

When the healing properties of stones and the energy conduction of clear quartz is combined with the life-force energy of Reiki, the healing potential of all is spectacularly increased. Crystals and stones can be used in the hands of the practitioner and the Reiki channeled through them. They can be placed on and around the body of the person receiving the Reiki treatment. And they can be used to form a crystal grid around the person, creating a powerful energy chamber into which Reiki can be directed and amplified. Any or all of these techniques can be used to greatly enhance the effectiveness of an in-person Reiki treatment.


It can also be beneficial to carry or wear stones with the desired healing properties, especially when they have been infused with Reiki energy.


Using a Reiki-charged stone can be a great way to introduce Reiki to an animal prior to beginning a Reiki treatment, and they will often lie on the stone during the treatment, using it as an additional source of healing energy.
